Sunderland’s Danny Graham on verge of a move to Hull City

Hull City are “very close” to sealing a deal to take Sunderland forward Danny Graham to the KC Stadium.

Graham, 27, is set to move to the newly promoted Premier League club on a season-long loan.

The former Swansea player has flown out to Portugal, where the Tigers are holding their pre-season training camp, to hold talks with Hull chief executive Nick Thompson.

Graham only joined Sunderland six months ago and is yet to score for the Black Cats since his £5 million switch from the Swans.

But Hull manager Steve Bruce believes his arrival will give the club a lift as they prepare for only the third top-flight campaign in their history.

“We’re very close and we’re hopeful we can get it done before the weekend,” Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail. “It looks as though there is a deal to be done with Sunderland and it’s in the hands of our chief executive.

“All the talks have been encouraging but we will have to wait and see now. We hope we can get something done soon. As I’ve admitted, he’s a player I like and it would be a big boost to our squad to have someone like Danny join.”

Bruce turned his attentions to Graham after a move for Burnley striker Charlie Austin broke down when he failed a medical.
